Holiday Gift Shop & Winter Festival
  December 4, 5, & 7
The Holiday Gift Shop

On Thursday, December 4, we will begin our Annual Holiday Gift Shop.  It is designed to enable students to select their own special holiday gifts for their families and friends.  They have so much fun, they hardly know they are participating in a valuable learning program.  There will be a large variety of gifts in different price ranges from which to choose, including tools, jewelry, stuffed animals, coffee mugs, sport items and much more!!!  Since the shop is set up at school, and supervised by parent volunteers, the atmosphere is warm, familiar, and non-commercial.  It give the young shopper the opportunity of buying the gifts on his/her own, not to mention the learning experience of comparing and budgeting money.  The Holiday Gift Shop will be open on Thursday and Friday from 9-3:30, and also during the Winter Festival on Sunday, from 1:00-3:00PM.  A special money control envelope has been sent home, which can also be used as a shopping list.

Winter Festival
Sunday, December 7, 1:00-3:00PM

We will have an afternoon of games, crafts, food and fun.  We hope you can join us for an entertaining afternoon!  A wonderful team of 6th grade students is putting it all together - there will be games, cookie decorating, the Holiday Gift Shop, and of course, SANTA!!!  This is a FREE family event.  Photos with Santa will be taken by Teresa Lee Photography, if you choose.  Spread the word, grab family and friends and join us!

Recycling at PWES
Stewardship Station:
Please remember, we are always collecting the following at Prairie Winds:
  • Variety of empty food wrappers, drink pouches, glue sticks & bottles, writing instruments and ziplock bags for the TerraCycle program sponsored by Mrs. Shindel’s and Mrs. Jones’ 4th grade classes.
  • Used/broken small electronics, laptops & inkjet/toner cartridges for the EcoBuddies program sponsored by Mrs. Martinez’, Mrs. Saccuman’s and Mrs. Skabo’s 5th grade classes.
  • Old batteries: keeps these dangerous items out of our landfills.
  • Children’s books!  Bring a book, take a book at the Little Lending Library in the Commons area.  A great way to pass along all of those books you have outgrown to a new reader.
Please feel free to collect items at home, and drop them off at the front office, or send in anytime with your child.    Thank you for helping support our students in their commitment to being good stewards of the planet.
If you need any additional information regarding our collection programs, please contact the front office, or look in the information rack outside the office.
